Newly Sharpened Pencils

So here we are again. Amazon boxes that once held books which go waaay over my head fill our recycling bin, the calendar is charted out with breaks and exams, Netflix is enjoying more of our viewership as I try to domestically manage on my own all day and I am starting to forget what Gabe’s face looks like.
Well, no, it has like a beard on it… And his eyes are brown…? We got this, brain.
Oh, and I started this post like a month ago. My blog is FULL of “drafts” that have lots of potential, thankyouverymuch.
The point is: Gonzaga decided for some stupid reason to resume classes. So adieu, summer lax and late mornings and family dinners. It was fun while it lasted.
I must say that this summer rocked my socks right off. I got a brand new {totally adorable} child, my mommy visited for 5 glorious weeks and blessed our home immeasurably, Gabe and I did lots of stuff together and we made some seriously cherish-able memories with our favorite girl.
It’s always an adjustment when school starts back up. I am a woman of lists and schedules and while I remain quite flexible (because I married a navigator) I enjoy writing down my tasks and daily breakdown. And I am learning, as a mom of 2 littles, that checking off one thing a day is a success and getting out of the house takes about 30 minutes start-to-finish. I’m learning how to balance serving outside the home and serving inside it, how to accommodate my new needs with wider time frames and lowered standards in some areas. School time is not just for Gabe to learn!
So welcome, Fall! Welcome, school year! Welcome, countdowns to the next time Gabe has a break! 🙂

Don’t you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address. {Joe Fox, You’ve Got Mail, one of my favorite movies ever}

    Great Post.
    As soon as I read your Title I heard Jo Fox’s voice in my head!
    I am from New York…downstate not city… which is the same as a different planet, but still there most definitely something magical about Fall in New York. It is what makes me NOT falling into deep despair about Summer ending and School starting.
    Cheers,
    Leah
